Last week i wrote a post called “ok, its time” where i offered myself up as a sponge to ignorant remarks made by White people to people of color on their blogs. Well, as it turns out there are a good number of other folks who are willing to do the same or something better. So in the hopes that something positive can be created (and not just another late night rant by your’s truly), Ally Work, a blog dedicated to helping White people challenge Whiteness and White Supremacy, is up and running. Its still in the beginning stages, so i’m sure there will be some kinks to work out, but check it out and add your two cents.

All human beings feel ignored, powerless, and excluded to some extent. Venting your anger by name calling, and hateful puerile remarks only exposes a singular myopic view of the world. I suppose that most are incapable of even attempting to resist the urge to condemn others whom are of a different race or gender. Intolerance and self-righteousness rule the day. Can you do what you demand caucasians do; look outside your own self for a moment?

So very true, R. Thomas. That’s the nature of oppression.
But i wanted to clear up some misunderstandings by stating a disclaimer, don’t come to my site if you don’t have a sense of humor. I assume you think i’m name calling by using the term Whitey. Sorry if you feel that this word is hurtful but, um, hello! Whitey in the house! That’s me! If you stick around long enough you may even see me talk about those damn fags. Yup, me again. Trannyfag in the house. Just a word of caution, if you have no sense of humor, you may also want to avoid reading or talking to Bitch Lab. Sorry, Bitch, for dragging you into this. Oooo, that’s my catchphrase of the day.
If you think i’m name calling by using the word ignorant, i’d suggest you check the dictionary.
And as far as myopic (why do the haters love that word?), the whole point of the project is to act upon a longterm vision of social justice. Not sure where you get off using such a big word. Damn, i’m feeling mean today.
hee hee vegan–i don’t think that s/he knew you were white…
I think your right, bfp. Ahh, challenging Whiteness can get so confusing.
