The following is being reposted from feministing. Why? Well, for one, its a fucked up story. Seriously, if it were one of the members of the Duke wimmin’s lacrosse team who was charging members of the men’s team with rape, would they still be wearing those bracelets? But the real reason i am reposting this is to show all those annoying trolls that we will not back down. The goal of the troll is obvious: relentless attacks until the persyn you are attacking shuts up. I have a new proposal for those of us that refuse to shut up. Everytime a post that we agree with gets attacked, lets repost it. Instead of hiding, we will multiply. With enough acts of solidarity (and enough collecting of IP addresses), we will show these worthless trolls that their time is better in their own homes. So get the fuck out of ours! So with samhita’s support, i bring you More.Duke.Crap.
As if yesterday’s post on the asshats that were dressed like Duke lacrosse players at Beta Breakers chanting “No means yes,” was not enough, this just troubles me so much further. The women’s lacrosse team of Duke is planning on wearing bracelets saying, “innocent” in their game against Northwestern. The complex system of issues this brings up for me is profound, but when it comes down to it, all I can think is how stupid of them. This is indeed the type of solidarity that often makes our culture intolerable for me.
via AP.
In a show of solidarity with the Duke University men’s lacrosse team, members of the school’s women’s team plan to wear sweatbands with the word “Innocent” written on them.
The university canceled the rest of the season for the highly ranked men’s team because of a woman’s complaint she was raped in March at a team party where she had been hired to strip.
The women’s plan to wear sweatbands on their arms or legs was reported Wednesday by The Herald-Sun of Durham. The teams plays Northwestern in the NCAA semifinals Friday.
The university has no objection to this, but you know damn well if they were wearing armbands reading, “Kill those Nazi rapists,” they would. But really, this is not only an example of how (white in this case) women are complicit in their own oppression but also involved in the silencing and vicitimization of women of color. I mean they are making themselves look so stupid to stand in solidarity with accused rapists. Have gender relations in upper middle class white world shifted such a small bit? I mean really?
Would David Usher tell us this is an example of feminism “taking over” Duke? My head spins in horror.
Normally i would suggest that you go over and support Samhita, but due to 448 comments (mostly trolls) the comments section of the post was shut off. And i’ll warn you trolls, i have no problem pushing the delete button. I do it everyday. If you want to talk shit about me, fine. Just do it behind my back like any civilized humyn being.

i’ve decided to enforce a new commenting policy. Trolls will have their comment replaced with their IP address instead of simply deleted. And no, i will not respond to the comments of trolls. Not worth my precious time.
ohh, a new tactic in the fight against trolls–can you explain to me what this does???
good for you vegan, always leading the way, teaching the rest of us…
Oh, I like this. You’ll have to forgive me for stealing the idea from you.
excuse my lack of knowledge, but what do we know with their IP address? Where they live?
for those of us with our own domain, we can use the IP address to block comments comming from that IP (the IP is kinda like a computer’s social security number). i don’t know if those on blogger have the same capabilities, but i’ll look into it. i don’t think so, though.
Hey Vegan, my humblest of apologies, but i forgot to mention that my IP address can also be recognized as cpe-071-068-114-205.carolina.res.rr.com. If you feel i have been abusing my internet privileges, you can email abuse(at)rr.com or call 703-345-3416. If enough people report abuse, they may be kind enough to suspend my internet access. So please, forgive my lily white ass.
BTW, WhiteMale, what the fuck is a sychophant?
i esp like the idea about the IP address’s vegan–
I wish the IP thing worked on Blogger…the trolls have hit my Duke post. What I can’t work out is…why do they have nothing better to do with their time??
IP - cuz the mexicans took all their jobs, of course! and you should check the PBKA forums, i just posted something useful for all yall Blogger users.
VK!
I am loving the IP address post thing. I’ve also considered posting their email addresses as well.
Take care,
Jay
Hey, I like it….although, I just prefer to delete the suckas and not even allow them the opportunity to post their crap in my blog to begin with.
Although, I may just do like you do and print their IP and email addies just to get the spambots on their sorry asses, too.
BTW…blogger doesn’t allow you any power to block IP addies on your own, all you can really do is reject or edit incoming posts.
Anthony
yeah. i didn’t publish the email address because they are easier to fake than IP addresses.
anthony - i found a piece of PHP code that can be plugged into the blogger template to block specified IP addresses. folks can find it on the PBKA forum.
yeah. i’m going to add that to my template today. although i have my own domain name, i still have my blog at blogger. i feel comfortable with blogger (kinda)
Everytime a post that we agree with gets attacked, lets repost it. Instead of hiding, we will multiply.–what an awesome idea! i’ll definintely adopt this tactic from now on.
BTW, i loved your posting about sexy. so analytical and educational, vegankid. couldn’t comment there, unfortunately, so i’m leaving my 2 cents here
sky - great to hear! i really liked how many people posted some version of this post on their site. it really seemed to shut down the onslaught of trolls (tho diva did get a few).
thanks for the kinds words about my post on sexiness. where did you read it? taking place? if so, you have to register on the site in order to read and post comments.
