My birthday is a week from today, so i thought i’d give you a heads up on what i want. Pick one or more of these items and make me happy this birthday:
- Send something funny to Jake. Jake is one of the SHAC 7 defendents and is currently serving his sentence. His birthday is the day after mine and he’s asked for people to send him things that might entertain him.
- Write a letter to another prisoner or volunteer at a prison books project. Prison isn’t a nice place. It can be good to know there are people on the outside who care.
- For non-vegans: go vegan for the day.
- Cook and share food with others.
- Identify one non-necessity in your life and cut it out for the day (drinking coffee, driving, eating out, etc). Take the money you saved not doing that one thing and donate it to a local organization.
- For my blogging friends: take the time you’d normally spend blogging or reading other blogs and volunteer for a local organization.
- Don’t buy anything for at least day.
- Help a friend or neighbor.
- For my over-worked and over-involved friends: call in sick and spend the day doing something you love. I suggest sleeping in… and lots of baked goods.
