This was supposed to be my valentine’s day gift to yall, but by the time i got done with work, i didn’t want to touch my computer any more. So here it is a week later:

new free clinic in Bloomington

I don’t think i’ve ever written about anything local, which is pretty contrary to what i believe is important. So i wanted to take some time and highlight yet another reason why i love Bloomington. Geoff, fellow btown blogger, wrote a post last month about btown’s new free clinic! Btown already has one free clinic for wimmin, but this one is for anyone whose income is less than 200% of the federal poverty line. If you’re curious as to what that translates to, here’s a breakdown:

Persons in Household == Household Income
1 == $19,600
2 == $26,400
3 == $33,200
4 == $40,000
5 == $46,800
6 == $53,600
7 == $60,400
8 == $67,200

The clinic, started by Volunteers in Medicine of Monroe County, will serve as a primary and urgent care clinic.

armchair activist, erase racism and ourstory

i will no longer be publishing the armchair activist series here. However, you can continue to find it at Taking Place and Alas. I just published #24 at both. Its about the 64 remaining APPO prisoners in Mexico who remain at risk of further torture.

Aaminah just published the 9th Erase Racism Carnival.

And Kevin and I still need your submissions for the first Ourstory Carnival.
