I went to a fun show last night which was really just a couple of friends playing solo acts. First up was Nate Powell (who also happens to be my favorite graphic novelist) and his electric bass performing under the name Wait…. Melting my heart with his nerdiness, Nate sang a lot about space, desperation, and hope.

The second act, and reason why i wanted to post this, was my friend and neighbor Matt (aka Matty POP Chart). Matt is one of the sweetest, funniest people i know. He also happens to be an amazing guitarist and song writer. If you’ve never seen him perform, you should. He is one of the most entertaining solo acts i’ve ever seen. He has never failed to make me laugh with his intros and between song banter, and his lyrics are at times humorous, at times heart-breaking, and usually a bit of both.
